What is an ORCID iD?

ORCID, which stands for Open Researcher and Contributor ID, is a free, unique, persistent identifier (PID) for individuals to use as they engage in research, scholarship, and innovation activities. ORCID helps distinguish researchers from one another and is used globally by publishers, funding agencies, and institutions.

Each ORCID iD is a 16-digit alphanumeric code that links to a researcher’s ORCID profile. The ORCID profile can include information like a researcher’s employment history, publications, awards, and affiliations.

How to Get an ORCID iD?
