Library services provides tours and workshops that can help your students better understand how to find resources, use research strategies, evaluate sources, and use citations to avoid plagiarism.

Workshops can be provided at the Innovation Commons, in class, in a computer lab (booked by the instructor), or in online formats (synchronous via Zoom/Teams or asynchronous with a prerecorded video).

Some of the alternatives you can request for your class:

  • Innovation Commons guided tour: a walk around our space, with a focus on services and areas designated to students.

  • Research assignment workshop: this type of session is planned with a focus on research skills and tools that students can apply to a specific assignment.

  • General infolit skills: from how to select a topic to how to cite sources, this session covers the basic skills students need to write a research paper.

  • Independent research: in this session, we focus on specific needs a student or researcher may have around finding and using resources for a particular topic. Good for students who are developing their own projects.

  • Joint workshop with a writing centre instructor (research practices combined with writing strategies)
