Tips for searching using AND, OR, NOT
When searching for content related to your essay or assignment, brainstorm some keywords. Then use AND (capital letters) to combine the keywords.
Example: to find book reviews on "The Handmaid's Tale, by author Margaret Atwood, you may try something like:
The Handmaid's Tale AND Margaret Atwood AND book review
If there is more than one word for something you are researching, use synonyms / similar terms separated by OR (capital letters).
Example: if you researching the history of First Nations, you will need to consider more than one search term:
indigenous people OR first nations OR aboriginal OR native americans
Use NOT (capital letters) to exclude concepts from your search.
Example: moths NOT butterflies AND hybernation AND Canada
