The Open Access (OA) initiative focuses on free access to peer-reviewed research articles, preprints and research data.

ArXiv This link opens in a new window The arXiv (pronounced "archive") is a repository of electronic preprints, known as e-prints, of scientific papers in the fields of mathematics, physics, astronomy, computer science, quantitative biology, statistics, and quantitative finance, which can be accessed online.
Biomed Central This link opens in a new window BioMed Central is an STM (Science, Technology and Medicine) publisher which has pioneered the open access publishing model. All original research articles published by BioMed Central are made freely and permanently accessible online immediately upon publication. A number of journals may require an institutional or a personal subscription to view other content, such as reviews or paper reports.

EarthArxiv This link opens in a new window EarthArXiv is a preprint server and a volunteer community for open scholarly communication in the area of Earth Sciences and related fields.
F1000Research This link opens in a new window F1000Research is an Open Research publishing platform offering immediate publication of articles, posters and slides with no editorial bias. All articles benefit from transparent peer-review and the inclusion of all source data. Though there is no Editor (or Editor-in-Chief) to make a decision on whether to accept or reject the article, or to oversee the peer-review process, F1000Research has an Advisory Board comprising a large group of leading experts across biology and medicine; they provide strategic input, advise occasionally on issues arising with specific articles, and many members of the board also act as invited referees.
Nature Scientific Reports This link opens in a new window Online and open access, Scientific Reports is a primary research publication from the publishers of Nature, covering all areas of the natural sciences. It is open to all, publishing technically sound, original research papers of interest to specialists within their field, without barriers to access.
Open Library of Humanities This link opens in a new window The Open Library of Humanities (OLH) is a charitable organisation dedicated to publishing open access academic journals from across the humanities disciplines, as well as hosting its own multidisciplinary journal. Launched as an international network of scholars, librarians, programmers and publishers in January 2013, OLH publishes articles ranging from classics, modern languages and cultures, philosophy, theology and history, to political theory, sociology, anthropology, film and new media studies, and digital humanities.
PsyArXiv This link opens in a new window PsyArXiv (psychology archive) is designed to facilitate rapid dissemination of psychological research. PsyArXiv allows scholars to post documents such as working papers, unpublished work, and articles under review (preprints), making them accessible to other researchers and to the public at no cost. Users can also upload revisions of their posted document and supplemental documents such as appendices.
Pubmed Central This link opens in a new window PubMed Central (PMC) is the U.S. National Institutes of Health (NIH) free digital archive of biomedical and life sciences journal literature. Particularly interesting for researchers looking for materials about Medicine and related areas.
SociArxiv This link opens in a new window Officially launched December 2016, SocArxiv follows the same principles of the Arxiv: it collects eprints, but it focuses social sciences, behavioral sciences, arts & humanities, education, and law.
